What is the use of zinc oxide in the rubber industry

Rubber processing aid: Zinc oxide is an important rubber processing aid, often used as an activator, vulcanization accelerator and acid catalyst. It can promote the vulcanization reaction of rubber, improve the vulcanization speed and vulcanization degree, and enhance the physical properties and heat resistance of rubber.

Antioxidant: Zinc oxide can be added to rubber as an antioxidant, preventing rubber products from aging, hardening and fracture due to thermal oxidation during long-term use. It absorbs and neutralizes harmful free radicals and delays the aging process of rubber.

Light stabilizer: zinc oxide can also be added to rubber as a light stabilizer to prevent the phenomenon of fading, decomposition and deterioration of rubber products under ultraviolet light irradiation. It is able to absorb and scatter ultraviolet rays, protecting the structure and properties of rubber materials.

Plasticizer: Zinc oxide can be added to rubber as a plasticizer, improving the processability and softness of rubber. It can interact with rubber molecules to enhance the plasticity and ductility of rubber, making it easier to process into products of various shapes.

Filler: Zinc oxide can be added to rubber as a filler to improve the physical properties and processing properties of rubber. It can increase the hardness, strength and wear resistance of rubber, and improve the durability and tensile resistance of rubber products.
